Nordic Plant Biology days 2017 - 27th SPPS Congress

Please mark your calendars - it is a pleasure to invite you to Nordic Plant Biology days 2017 - the 27th Congress of the Scandinavian Plant Physiology Society, which will be held August 16-18, 2017 in Naantali, Finland!

The meeting focuses on the internationally top-ranking Nordic research on photoautotrophic organisms, including prokaryotes, algae and plants. Join us to meet the students, post-docs and senior scientists who will present their hot research topics and key institutions. Together we will strengthen the collaborations and promote scientific excellence in Scandinavia!

The meeting will take place at Naantali Spa hotel, located in South-Western Finland near the city of Turku. In addition to the inspiring scientific program and the collaborative discussions, the participants will experience a stimulating social program at the picturesque seafront of Turku archipelago.


We warmly welcome all plant scientists working in Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Estonian or Icelandic institutes as well as all members of SPPS from different parts of the world! The registration fee for all Nordic/Baltic scientists and all SPPS members will be 50 Euros.

Attendance is limited to 200 participants in the order of registration.

Poster session and selected talks

Abstracts are required for oral presentations and posters.

The organizing committee will review the abstracts and select oral presentations for PhD student/Post-doc sessions.

Accepted abstracts will be published in the abstract book.

Withdrawal of abstracts can only be accepted if notified in writing and subsequently confirmed by the SPPS 2017 Secretariat. It is only possible to withdraw an abstract until 14 days after notification of acceptance.

We reserve the right to exclude any abstract that is not followed by a participant registration at the latest 14 days after notification of acceptance.

All submitted abstracts have been accepted for poster presentations.

Special prices in Naantali Spa Hotel during SPPS 2017 and also during the following weekend from 18th to 20th August 2017: 68 Euros/person/night in a shared twin/double room, and 115 Euros/person/night in a single room. Extra bed for children of the age 4-16 years or an extra travelling bed for small children 15 Euros/night. If no extra bed is needed, children below 4 years accommodate for free. The prices include breakfast and access to spa.

Please note, the special price is offered for reservations made by 15.7.2017, or until the room quota reserved for SPPS2017 becomes full.

How to get to the Congress venue at Naantali Spa Hotel

If you arrive to Turku Airport the easiest way is to take a taxi from Turku airport. The airport is located about 19 km from Naantali Spa Hotel. You can also first travel to Turku centre by bus (number 1) and then continue from Turku centre to Naantali Spa by bus (number 6 or 7).

Several airlines fly directly to Turku from Helsinki, Stockholm, Gdansk and Riga.

If you arrive to Turku from Stockholm by ship (Viking line or Silja line) take a taxi from port of Turku to Naantali Spa or take a bus (number 1) to Turku centre and continue from Turku centre to Naantali Spa by bus (number 6 or 7).

If you fly to Helsinki then the easiest way is to take a train from Helsinki Airport to Turku and continue from Turku to Naantali Spa by a taxi or by a bus (number 6 or 7).

If you come to Naantali by car, then follow the instructions available at Naantali Spa Hotel web pages.
